PART 2 – HOW TO KNOW YOUR FAITH IS ACTIVE

A faith that is active is one that is fully pleasing to God. These show that your faith is active:

1.      You don’t worry about material things.

“Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be clothed?” – Matthew 6:31. Jesus taught the people that a worry for material things portrays you as a Gentile. For they seek such things. Jesus taught them that God knows what you need and would provide it for them as they seek Him and His kingdom.

A worry for material things renders our spiritual walk as Christians fleshly. We need to have faith that God would provide for us.

2.      You rejoice in moments of affliction.

“…And when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.” – Acts 5:40-41. When the apostles were apprehended for the preaching of the gospel and beaten. They did not take offence with God but rejoiced and praised God. They considered it a privilege to suffer for Christ. In Philippians 1:29, the Bible says that it is given unto us on the behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him but also to suffer for His sake. We need to reckon our afflictions as a privilege in our Christian walk. For by our suffering, God works in us to cease from sin (1 Peter 4:1-2).

3.    You always desire to decrease so that God will increase.

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” – John 3:30. These were the words of John the Baptist. He recognized that though Jesus was a young man on this earth, He was before all things and above all things. In the verse 31 of the same chapter, John declares, “…He that cometh from heaven is above all”. John knew and believed this.

4.      You don’t war in the natural, you shift your battle to the supernatural.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds ;)” – 2 Corinthians 10:3-4

The walk of faith is purely supernatural. Hence mixing it with the natural would render our works of faith as dead. We need to understand that this world and the events which occur are as a result of orchestration from the spiritual world. When David was in battle with Goliath, he did not operate from a physical perspective but quickly shifted the battle into the supernatural. He came against Goliath in the name of the Lord. Christians need to be active in their walk of faith by shifting their battles into the supernatural.
