- God is holy and as His children, we should be holy (1 Pet. 1:15-16)
- Because we are members of a holy nation (1 Pet. 2:9)
- God chose us form the beginning to be holy and blameless in Him (Eph. 1:4)
- We are called into holiness (1 Thess. 4:7)
- It is God’s will that every believer in Christ lives in holiness (1 Thess. 4:3)
- Without holiness, no man can see the Lord (Heb. 12:14)
- We are called into a holy life (2 Tim. 1:8-9)
- Our body, which is the temple of God must be holy (1 Cor. 3:16-17)
- Being partakers of God’s divine nature, we must live in holiness (2 Pet. 1:4-8)
- All who have hope in the return of Jesus must live a life of holiness (2 Pet. 3:14; 1 Jn. 3:3)
Holiness must be so preached not
because people are living unholy lives, but because God, our Father is Holy.
There is a Ghanaian proverb that “a crab does not beget a bird”. A crab gives
birth to a crab and a bird also gives birth to a bird. God is holy and
therefore does not beget unholy children, for which He beckons all His children
to be holy as He is.
