Moody is a name worth mentioning, not just for a life well lived but mainly for the rich examples of true Christianity in the life of this one man and how massively he imparted so many lives. Let us read the very words from the mouth of the Rev. Moody:

STRENGTH

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 2:1 (KJV)
The apostle Paul admonished Timothy in the text above to be strong in the Lord’s grace and this goes to all true Christians. Pursuing Christ and the kingdom of God is not a bed of roses but a journey that involves fighting and escaping temptation and obeying the Word of Christ.

WHAT IT MEANS TO PRAY IN JESUS'S NAME

Prayer is one of the Christian acts that Jesus taught His disciples. Many preachers and teachers have spoken vastly about the topic of prayer because of its importance in the life of a Christian. Prayerlessness is what makes a Christian totally dry and void of the presence of God.

PRAYERS “UNANSWERED”

Let me take you down memory lane
To that moment when you felt deserted
Betrayed and left to dry out in the sun
Then helplessness and broken-heartedness set in
Even frustration at times

ELEVEN [E. M. BOUNDS] PRAYER QUOTES

  1. Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still. He will never talk well and with real success to men for God who has not learned well how to talk to God for men.

HOW TO WAIT ON GOD

A very common statement among Christians is “waiting on God”. If not all, then most Christians and churches use this statement. In most cases it’s referring to a period of fasting and prayers. Some people go to mountains to wait on God, while others dive deep into the bush to do their waiting. Churches can also be good venues for this solemn activity, where one is determined to have an intimate fellowship with the Holy Ghost or to seek the will of God.

5 THINGS TO DO EVERY EARLY MORNING

How you begin your day determines the remarks you will gives yourself when the day is over. This is very important in human life – beginning the day and ending the day. Very often when I speak to people in the evening I ask how the day went for them. Just like it has become a norm to say “I’m fine” when asked “how are you?” most people respond “my day was good” or “it was okay”. Most of the time you realize that they do not know what they are talking about or they aren’t being realistic or they are just not sure about how the day went.

THE FORCE OF PRAYER AND DRYNESS

The prophet Jonah is noted for running from the call of God and finally caught up in the belly of a great fish. The Bible teaches that God prepared this fish to swallow Jonah. This is an act of love. God insisted on Jonah walking in the perfect will of God. He (God) then had to allow a fish to swallow him (Jonah) to draw his attention not to harm him. Many a time God blindfolds His children just to get their attention but as often as He tries the devil steps in to cause them to harden their hearts.

There is a clear distinction between God drawing our attention and temptation. God never tempts us neither can any man tempt HIM. Temptation is to cause the victim to stumble and backslide but God intentions are pure, to bring you unto an expected end.

7 POSTURES OF PRAYER (PLUS 1 BONUS)

Prayer is an act of talking with God. There are many postures one can assume when praying. We are not limited to only kneeling when praying. If it were so praying in the bus would be a little difficult. We can pray in the market place as well as in the office. Whilst walking we can be talking with God. God has not limited us to only one posture in prayer; He has given us the liberty to talk with Him.

Listed below are seven (7) postures of praying:

  1. Standing (Neh. 9:5; Mk. 11:25; Lk. 18:13)
  2. With hands uplifted (2 Chro. 6:12-40; Ps. 63:4; 1 Tim 2:8)
  3. Walking (2 Kings 4:35)
  4. Sitting (1 Chro. 17:16-27)
  5. Kneeling (1 Kings 8:54; Ezra 9:5; Lk. 22:41; Acts 9:40, Eph. 3:14)
  6.  Bowing (Exod. 34:8; Neh. 8:6; Ps. 72:11)
  7. Prostrating (Josh. 7:6; Ezra 10:1; Matt. 26:39; Mk. 14:35)

BONUS: Pray without ceasing at all places employing all postures. The ability of God to here does not depend on your posture; He can hear when you sit, bow or stand.

7 THINGS PRAYER IS NOT (PLUS 1 BONUS)

The followers of Christ asked Him to teach them one thing - to teach them to pray.
Here we go,
  1. Prayer is not talking into the air
  2. Prayer is not shouting
  3. Prayer is not saying "Jesus"
  4. Prayer is not recitation(s)
  5. Prayer is not a ritual
  6. Prayer is not a means to an end
  7. Prayer is not "talking to" God, it's "talking with" God.
BONUS: Learn to pray, talk with God always. When you talk, expect Him to talk back -- He sure will.
