SORCERY OF BALAAM

THE MINISTRY OF BALAAM
Part 1 – Sorcery of Balaam
Lesson – What Inspires Your Service For God?

“Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go as at other times, to seek to use sorcery, but he set his face toward the wilderness”. (Numbers 24:1)

Balaam is described in the Bible as a prophet of God but he was not one who was approved by God to operate in the ministry of the prophet.

BEARING FRUIT

The growth of a Christian has been compared to that of a tree in several places in the Bible. In Psalms 1:1-3, David says, “…He shall be LIKE A TREE planted by rivers of water that bring forth its fruit in its season….” David compared a man who delighted in God to a tree whose end is to bear fruit and prosper in all his ways. This reveals if the tree does not bear fruit it shall not prosper. Likewise, if a Christian does not bear fruit, he shall not prosper in his endeavors and may even earn condemnation. Let’s take a look at Matthew 21:18-19.

THE SOUR WINE AND THE CURSE OF MANKIND

Obliterating the curses upon humanity was an important facet of the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. Jesus came unto the earth realm to save mankind from condemnation. Man had been condemned by earning curses from the Almighty God. These curses are the embargo God placed upon the entire human race because of sin.
(Sin is the violation of God. What do I mean? When an individual sin, he or she has not just sinned but sinned against God. For example if a girl of five is raped she has been violated not necessarily the violation of the constitutional laws. What is the essence of the constitution without the people?

ANCESTRAL MISFORTUNE – IS IT MINE TOO?

The issue of ancestral misfortune is one of the most mishandled, both in ancient times and present day. As the ancient fathers accepted it to be, so the modern day believers in God accept it. They believed that the punishment or weaknesses of their forefathers will linger till many generations, and thus were in expectation of the particular punishment. Very interestingly the current day people of God believe the same.

For example, “If our forefathers were alcoholics then we are no different”, “It is generational”, we often say, “We are just having our share of the family cake”. Yes these things do happen. I have met people who have problems with marriage because all their forefathers had such problems. And others with barrenness issues, and thus struggle before giving birth to at most one. Some others I have encountered die at around age forty because of diabetes. All these are generational and thus do we believe that it is a form a chastisement upon the family that we cannot be left out.

We do believe that as far as you carry the family blood you are tied to all blessings and shortcoming of the family. And sure it does happen the way we see it. Truly our beliefs become our strongholds. What we believe and trust becomes the very ruler for our souls by the influence of powers which work either righteously or evilly.
