"The impulse to worship is universal. If there is a race or a tribe anywhere in the world that does not worship it has not been discovered. And yet the act of worship is, for the most part, so imperfect, so impure and so far astray that any teaching that might help God more acceptably would indeed be a word well spoken." - A. W. Tozer
Man living on planet earth is made with the singular purpose of worshiping God. God, the one true God, Creator and Maker of all things performed all His works with the objective that all His works would worship Him.
To worship God means to reverentially give glory to God, emptying oneself to project the person of God. Worship is pretty different from thanksgiving. It is all about recognizing the awesomeness of God; His perfection, His beauty, His holiness, His might, His loveliness – all that He is altogether.
The twelve hour tides of the ocean and all water bodies give glory to God. The sweet chattering of birds tells about the splendour of His creation. The ability of the sun to give light, energy and warmth speaks of the performance of His might. The moon and the stars reveal His beauty. All these are giving glory to God. Everything has been made to worship God. Man also has be man to worship God.
“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” (Rev. 5:13, KJV)
Man, without a doubt is the most intelligent of all life on earth and thus should deliberately worship God.
The reason for our existence is to worship and we should do thus consciously and deliberately. John, the Apostle heard every creature in all the realms (1. The Heaven, 2. The Earth, 3. The Underworld and 4. The sea) speaking. They were worshiping God saying blessing, honour, glory and power. Wow! This is incredible and fearful. Every creature? I am without fear to say that the whole reason for the existence of man is to worship.
Man has been made to worship - worship, without which we are ordinarily less than the carcass of the least beast. For image source go here.
