9 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT A BAD LEADER

     I intend for these points below to help individuals who are in leadership positions or about to take leadership roles to be educated. Sometimes it doesn’t feel good addressing the wrongs or negative issues of life but I believe if the truth is spoken in love our lives can be transformed enough. Here are nine (9) characteristics of bad leaders;

  1. A bad leader uses people (or followers) to achieve his or her goals. The people don’t really matter to him; what matters are the goals they have set for themselves or the increasing competitions.
  2. A bad leader has poor money management skills. They don’t know when, how and what to use money for and which time and place.
  3. A bad leader always wants to take all the credit for work done. Real failure speaks boastful things, trying to make “self” known even when a team worked hard.
  4. A bad leader has poor relationship with followers. Employees work best if they are loved and respected. Bad leaders esteem themselves highly for which they aren’t able to relate properly with subordinates.
  5. A bad leader thinks he or she is always right at all times. Wisdom is not being always right but rather seeking to be right.
  6. A bad leader practices favouritism, tribalism and racism. All people on earth are the same regardless colour, tribe or etc. An old man I know always says to me, “Sammy, respect everyone equally because whether rich or poor, white or black, Akan or Dagomba, we are all created by God.” Doing the contrary only raises conflicts.
  7. A bad leader does not keep his promises. This is one of the reasons why walking  with God is fulfilling For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2 Cor. 1:20) Every leader should be like the greatest leader – God.
  8. A bad leader does not employ any measure of discipline. It is an act of love to employ strategic ways to discipline followers because He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. (Prov. 13:24)
  9. A bad leader easily gives up when things are not working according the expectation of the team. There is a popular saying that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Leaders are tough not something else.
