Worship
is so important that a slight negligence of it would render us merely beasts
scavenging the earth realm purposelessly. The Disciples were aligned to the
purpose of God when they worshiped the Resurrected Christ. “But the eleven disciples proceeded to
Galilee…And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him…And Jesus came up and spoke
to them…” (Matt 28:16-18)
When the disciples worshiped Christ He came to
them and spoke deep things unto them, things which were not committed unto them
when they walked with their Master for three and half years. He spoke unto them
their purpose and whatever that pertains unto it.
A
man without purpose is no more than a beast. Also a man with a self-inspired purpose
which does not concur with the purpose of God struggles to void. It is
imperative for the creature to walk in the purpose for which the Creator made
it. Just as a robot made to fulfill task “A” ends up functioning to fulfill
task “X” is a failure, man which fulfills anything different from God’s intent
for him is a complete garbage.
The
purpose for which the Disciples of Christ were called was revealed to them
after the Lord’s resurrection. It was revealed because they worshiped. All who
follow Christ are also mandated with this same purpose. In fact this assignment
given to the Disciples is the very assignment of the Church. The Great
Commission, we popularly call it, was born out of true worship. If the Church
would rise to its fulfillment, then the Church must do one thing – Worship.
Let
us read Matthew 28:16-20
16 But the eleven disciples
proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. 17
And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given
to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 "Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the
Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded
you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Here
are Seven (7) things the resurrected Christ does when we worship Him,
- He gives us the anointing to make disciples (vss. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples…”). In His earthly ministry He taught on how to be His disciple but when the Disciples worshiped He commanded them to make disciples (Mk. 1:17; Jn. 8:31; 13:35)
- He grants us to travel the globe (vss.19 “…make disciples of all the nations…”) We can make disciples of all nation if we travel all nations. (Acts 1:8)
- He gives the ability to baptize under the authority of the entire Godhead (vss.19 “…baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”)
- When we worship we gain recognition before the Godhead. How can we baptize in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit if they do not authenticate us.
- We gain the authority to teach the commands of Christ (vss.20 “teaching them to observe all that I commanded you…”)
- He gives that we obey the His commands, lest we become hypocrites teaching what we ourselves do not obey.
- He guarantees His eternal presence to be with us always. (vss.20 “…I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”)
All
these did the resurrected Christ speak unto His Disciples, when they worshiped
Him. And thus keeps re-echoing it into our spirits to do unto us if we worship.
Worship reveals our essence and purpose unto us. All that pertains unto a
purposeful life shall be given if we worship the resurrected Christ.
