8 FACTS ABOUT JUDAS ISCARIOT

     Judas Iscariot has gained a lot of popularity in the world because of his treachery and ignominious death. Yes, he was a follower of Jesus, who betrayed his Master and later committed suicide, but is that all? Here are some facts about this fellow you should know;

  1. He was an apostle (Mk. 3:13-19) and part of the apostolic ministry (Acts 1:16-17, 25)
  2. He was trusted by Jesus (Psa. 41:9)
  3. He was the first treasurer of the Church (Jn. 13:29)
  4. He was a baptizer in water (Jn. 4:1, 2)
  5. He was promised eternal kingship (Mt. 19:28)
  6.  He was filled with the Holy Spirit (Mt. 10:20) and endued with power (Mk. 10:1-8)
  7. He was ordained to preach and heal (Mk. 3:13-14) and was successful in doing so (Lk. 9:6, 10)
  8. He was a thief i.e. he became a covetous thief (Jn. 12:4-6)

BONUS: He betrayed Jesus. He sold his Master for money and which he never spent. After his atrocious act he hanged himself to death. (Jn. 18:1-5; Mt. 27:3-5) The closer we get to Christ the earnest we need Him. If such a man as Judas could betray Christ, I urge you therefore to seek Christ very much even if you are the closest to Him.
