WHEN THE ENEMY COMES LIKE A FLOOD

Recent rains brought unexpected floods in Accra. People’s houses where filled to the brim and vehicles were submerged as though the latest submarines in the Atlantic oceans. When the floods begin, nothing can be done in the process than to wait for all harm to be caused. Floods are unexpected before arrival and unavoidable in the process. This is the same strategy of the enemy against children of God; to come like a flood – unexpected and unavoidable.

“…When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” (Isa. 59:19 emphasis mine)

He schemes carefully to bombard children of God with unexpected situations primarily to truncate their destinies. But there is much more to fall on than fear. Flood kind of invasion involves a lot; such as frustration, depression, outbreaks of diseases, financial drought, stress, disappointments and etc. All these are forms in which the enemy manifests himself like a flood.

An atom of a bad unexpected thought can easily activate depression mode, which when not carefully dealt with can inspire suicide. How will you see depression or frustration coming? How will you deliver yourself when you are sieged by them? It’s the enemy who has come like a flood. The enemy has currently come against Africa like a flood through a lethal virus called Ebola. This is a flood – a strange wave of the enemy. A lady I spoke with wanted to die unmarried because six men have promised to marry her but disappointed her. They all had sex with her and spent her money. She was confused, distressed and determined to give up hope. We can call this no better name than the miracle of the enemy – flood.

A tragic strategy, this is – to come like a flood, speaking and inciting people to take their own lives. This enemy of mankind is like a living barbaric flood as portrayed by the Psalmist; “The floods have lifted up, O Lord, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.” (Psa. 93:3) One brother told me that he often hears voices in his head which drives him crazy. Another lady confirmed this when she said sometimes some voices impress upon her to have sex even if it’s with a stranger or an animal. These are floods which have lifted their voices and waves against people. The voice of the flood speaks hate and makes people hate everything, even themselves. The enemy speaks deceitful things that lead the way unto eternal destruction.

God is a good Father who shall not leave His children as often orphans. He certainly sends His Spirit to be with us and lead us and guard us and provide for our every need. “…When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.” (Isa. 59:19 emphasis mine) Though the enemy will come, the Scripture says God will build a fence around us that will disallow the impact of the flood in our lives. As far as the God lives His standards (fences) stand unbreakable like Mount Zion. Yes, the enemy will come like a flood but because of the standard of God you shall be unaffected. The multitudes of troubles will come but those who put their trust in God shall overcome. I encourage you to look unto God rather than unto the numerous troubles of life.
