THIS DWELLING PLACE OF GOD

As a Christian I always apply my heart to search for more powerful ways of fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit. This leads me to pray lengthy and regularly on daily basis. I spend lot of time studying and meditating on the Word of God as any Christian should. I will share with you this interesting knowledge to help you mature in your fellowship as a believer in Christ. Let us begin by looking at the scripture below;

Text: Ephesians 2:20-22 (NLT)

“Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord. Through him you Gentiles are also being made part of this dwelling where God lives by his Spirit.”

The text above clearly says all who believes in Jesus Christ and have obtained salvation are a house, God’s own house to be precise. This house is made up all of us who believe in Christ through faith unto salvation. We come together to form this house. Just as a house is built by laying bricks/blocks one on another, beside another and beneath another we are in the same way joined together as one building. The Holy Spirit is the common adhesive holding us compact together with bonds of love, faith and hope.

Indeed we are the house of God. This reality of God’s house is with no respect to race, tribe, denomination, skin colour, tongue, and ancestry whatsoever. We are a privileged component or building materials just because of the grace of God.

The most important and invigorating part of this whole revelation of God’s house is the fact that God Himself dwells within us by His Spirit. We are an inhabited house not just a house without a tenant. As the body of believing Christians is the dwelling of God, with God being the tenant I believe that God has faith in mankind and this broken world of ours.

But it is sad we don’t really have faith in ourselves. Sometimes men think that the world is far gone to be too beautiful again, that people have deeply sunk in the oceans of wickedness and kindness shouldn’t be expected, that corruption has grown far too fat that sincerity is now a thing of the past, that indecency has become the everyday fashion and modesty is a forbidden name. With Christ living and spreading His life in us nothing is too late and beauty stares in our faces waiting to be smiled upon.

Having established the name of the Lord and His dwelling place, I would like to add this; anything we do against our brethren doesn’t only affect the individuals but goes a long way against the very house of God. Can you imagine two blocks fighting themselves after a house is built? Any jostling will bring the entire edifice to the ground. We must learn to shun quarreling, conflicts, insulting one another or using abusive words, bitterness, selfishness, hatred, gossiping, bullying, unforgiveness, betrayal and several of such things among ourselves. Let us not just be a building but a glorious building because God dwells in us.
