Trials, the
most dreaded word in the Christian walk. Yet it so important that I haven't
come across words to emphasize its necessity.
The Bible
says that the testing of our faith produces patience. Thus we are tried so that
we can become patient children of God.
So I ask,
why patience? The same Bible states clearly that when patience completes its
work we’ll become both Perfect and Complete.
What then
is the point? Trials are very essential in our walk with God for it is the best
medium through which we'll accomplish the goal of patience. After which we will
be moved to completion and perfection.
Looking at
Job we would realize that God had His own intentions concerning him, even
though God left him for the devil to buffet him. (Job 1 & 2) This man after
enduring much trails emerged complete and perfect. His riches multiplied and
his relationship with God solidified. (Job 42)
In the case
of Joseph, I carry the personal conviction that his trials led him to the fulfillment
of his destiny (Gen. 37, 39-47). [Read about Joseph’s oppression: The Final Mantle]
What then
are trials? I'll call them occurrences that come our way so as to stretch us
and then cement us with our convictions towards God. Our trials either make or
break us. This however depends solely on us. [Read this poem: Whom God Chooses]
I realized
that the trials we encounter attack three aspects of our lives; our (1) Faith, (2)
Hope and (3) Love. These are the driving forces in Christianity and our possession
which distinguishes us from all others.
So, the
next time you hear trials, I’ll advise that instead of running you stand firm
in faith and overcome.
James
chapter one contains words of great help to the man trials. Bear in mind also
that all things work out together for the good of they that will hold on to
God, trust and love Him unto the end.
“My
brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the
testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect
work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4
