FAITH REVOLUTION SERIES
PART 4 – WHAT RENDERS OUR FAITH DEAD
1. Self-sufficiency
Our works of
faith would be rendered inactive and unfulfilling if we are sufficient in
ourselves. We must reckon that the Lord is the one working in our lives and He
is constantly involved in fashioning our every blessing. When we begin to see
our lives as complete, when we begin to see no need for prayer, fasting and
crying unto God, we become sufficient in ourselves which takes God out of the
equation. Our self-sufficiency robs God of His glory.
2. Lack of
self-communication and self-motivation
In Matthew
9:20:22, the Bible says, “And,
behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came
behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, if
I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.”
Faith will
yield successful results after the faith-filled person has inspired oneself
with self-communication and self-motivation. This above text reveals that the
woman inspired herself unto her work of faith. She put in an effort after she
received inspiration from within. For us to produce results in our walk of
faith we need to have a drive from within – an inspiration from our faith.
3. Lack of
diligence in our pursuit of God
Many
consider the Christian walk to be a free life. A life where you just go to
church and do good to people but it goes way beyond that. It involves diligence
and striving. A life where you remain committed to the cause of Christ and
stick with it forever. People want breakthroughs in their financial lives, they
want God to send them the right woman or man to marry, they have things they
want God to do for them but they are not diligent enough in prayer and fasting.
They are not careful to follow the will of God for their lives.
This lack of
diligence and striving towards the will of God would render our works of faith
as dead. Our faith would not yield our heart desires if we apply no effort or
we apply it lazily. The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6 that God would reward
those who diligently seek Him. Diligence is a quality we need to refine our
works of faith to please God.
