A MAN FROM GOD?

THE FALL OF CAIN
Part 1: A MAN FROM GOD?

Fall means to move lower or to drop from a certain height. And I would like to share with you on a series I taught in Church dubbed the Fall of Cain. In my earnest opinion Cain should not have fallen from God’s grace just as Christians should keep from backsliding. And I will explain in this episode one of the reasons why he fell.

Scripture Reading:
Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the Lord.” (Gen. 4:1)

(From our scripture Adam knew Eve his wife. Anytime the Word of God uses the word “knew”, it is talking about sex. So anytime there is a sexual intercourse there is this platform created for the married couples to know each other intimately. Sex is actually an avenue of intimacy between married couples.)

The First reason for Cain’s fall begins from his name. Cain means inheritance or I have gotten him whereas Abel means vanity. When Eve gave birth to Cain, she was very satisfied, so out of that satisfaction she said “…I have acquired a man from the Lord”. Adam and Eve were actually expecting the promised seed which was to come and crush the head of the serpent based on the decree God made in Genesis 3:15. Obviously both Adam and Eve thought that Cain was that Seed of a woman God spoke about because when God made His decree He did not give any time frame. Eve probably thought that she was the one to carry that seed which will come and crush the head of the serpent. And that was the invention of Cain’s name, so she said “I have acquired a man from God”. In other words, “I have given birth to the messiah.”

Eve did not make a mistake but made a mistake. Why do I say this? She did not make a mistake because she did not fail to recognize that the promised seed will be a divine child but made a mistake to think it was Cain. The name given to Cain made him somewhat deluded. Cain grew thinking he was the chosen seed to destroy the enemy. Anytime delusion falls on us we tend to live and walk blindfolded without the truth. Backsliding becomes inevitable when delusion becomes the siege around us.
I had a recent encounter with a certain zealous youth. This gentleman was very worried. He was worried because he has been made to think he has a prophetic unction yet does not even dream when at night. I shared with him several truths from God’s word. When I asked how he became a prophet, He told me that he was told so by a renowned prophet. This gentleman was deluded. It is obvious that telling a hungry man that he is satisfied does work any magic just as telling someone that he is prophet makes him any prophet. Satan uses delusion most of the time to make people fall from God’s grace. It was his first strategy against Cain.
Wise men say “the end of a matter is better than the beginning thereof”. So considering the beginning of a thing you cannot make any judgment until you can see the end. Every individual must consider his or her end before deciding choosing to give up. Abel was named vanity but he ended up pleasing God. It is better to be content with yourself and appreciate yourself the way God has made you even if you are called “vanity”. For all you know you are God’s best.
One cause of Cain’s fall was that he was living in delusion. He thought he was the promised seed but he was not. This infuriated him to kill Abel out of disappointed.
