GIVING

“Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum. And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.
And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, that he was worthy for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. Then Jesus went with them…” Luke 7:5-6

Giving is an act that really moves God. It causes the heart of God to beat towards the giver. In the scripture we see Jesus move immediately to heal the servant of a centurion who had built a synagogue. The man had given to the cause of God and this made the heart of Jesus beat towards his plight. Sincere and great giving is what causes God to suspend all protocols in heaven to attend to the giver. It catches His attention quickly.

“Let each one give as he has made up his own mind and purposed in his heart, not reluctantly or sorrowfully or under compulsion, for God loves (He takes pleasure in, prizes above other things, and is unwilling to abandon or to do without) a cheerful (joyous, prompt to do it) giver [whose heart is in his giving].” - 2 Corinthians 9:7 (AMP)

From the text above we learn three things:

1.     God takes pleasure in sincere giving. It refreshes His heart.
2.     God prioritizes cheerful givers. This is to say that He can put a lot of things on hold just to attend to the giver. Much like what happened with the centurion who built the synagogue.
3.     He would never abandon them or be willing to do without them. God wants to bless cheerful givers and He will always provide for them. He is not going to sit back when people who give unto Him, His house and people are in troubling times.
